Miniature Pump Batch Testing and Traceability for OEM Production

How to structure quality records when moving a miniature pump from approved sample to repeatable OEM production.

Miniature pump batch assembly line prepared for controlled production testing

Link the approved sample to controlled production

Batch testing starts before the first production lot. The approved sample should be tied to model code, drawing revision, material set, motor version, connector, label and packaging requirement.

If any item changes after approval, the release path should state whether the change needs engineering review, limited validation, customer approval or a new controlled sample.

Make performance records useful for future investigation

Useful records include incoming lot, work order, operator, test station, flow, pressure or vacuum, current, noise if specified, test date and acceptance limit. The data should identify both passed and failed units.

A batch release decision should not depend on a loose comment such as tested OK. It should point to the exact inspection method, calibrated equipment and controlled acceptance criteria.

Frequently asked questions

What should be traceable in miniature pump production?

At minimum, trace model revision, critical material lots, motor lot, assembly batch, test station, measured performance, nonconformities and release approval.
