Start from the sampling path

Gas sampling pumps often work with filters, sample tubes, chambers and sensors. The selected pump must provide stable flow through the complete path, not only on an open bench.

Record the required sample flow, vacuum margin, filter loading condition, sample gas, duty cycle and acoustic limit before model review.

Protect the sensor and the pump

Filters and condensate control may be necessary, but each protective element adds restriction. The pump should be selected after those restrictions are known.

Frequently asked questions

Is a higher vacuum pump always better for sampling?

Not always. The best choice is the pump that reaches the target sample flow through the actual restriction with acceptable noise, heat and lifetime.
